About SNAP

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budgets of individuals and families in need so they can purchase food. SNAP, formerly known as “food stamps,” is funded by the federal government.

How does Taproot support SNAP?

Taproot supports SNAP recipients’ access to local, healthy foods through two programs:

The Taproot Marketplace: Customers can use their EBT cards to pay for eligible items, which include most household foods. This service is available year-round.

The Lancaster Farmers Market: Customers can use their EBT cards to pay for tokens which can be exchanged for eligible items at participating market vendor stands. This service is available for the duration of the market season, May through October.

Double Your SNAP Dollars on Fresh Fruits and Vegetables!

At both the Taproot Marketplace and the Farmers Market, SNAP shoppers receive additional funds toward their purchases of fresh produce (fruits and vegetables).

The Taproot Marketplace participates in Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), a nationwide program operated by the Fair Food Network. DUFB is offered at participating retail stores through New Hampshire and other states. When shoppers use their EBT cards at the store, they receive 50% off all fresh fruits and vegetables. For example, if a customer purchases a bag of local greens mix with a $5 sticker price, the amount charged to their EBT card is $2.50.

Store hours: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 9am-3pm; Sunday 9am-2pm

The Lancaster Farmers Market uses the Granite State Market Match (GSMM), a statewide program led by the New Hampshire Food Bank and offered at participating farmers markets throughout NH. When shoppers use their EBT cards at the farmers market, they receive a matching amount in coupons which can be used on eligible items at any participating market vendor, for the duration of the market season. For example, if a customer spends $10 with their EBT card, they are given $10 to spend on produce.

Visit the farmers market on Saturdays 9am-12pm, from May through October at the Centennial Park.

Use your Lancaster Farmers Market tokens/coupons at Taproot Marketplace!

Any tokens or coupons purchased at the Lancaster Farmers Market before October 15, 2021 will no longer be accepted at either the farmers market or Taproot Marketplace as we switched to a new market voucher in 2022.

Starting in 2022 and for each year going forward, all Lancaster Farmers Market vouchers will be printed with an expiration date of December 31 of that year, and any vouchers purchased at the market can be redeemed at one of two locations: (1) at the Lancaster Farmers Market for the duration of that market season, or (2) at the Taproot Marketplace until the end of that calendar year. This change will enable us to keep running the SNAP/EBT program at the farmers market in a sustainable manner.
