After school programs 2025-26 School Year
Wild Wednesdays - 2:30-4:30
September 3 - October 8
We spend the afternoon exploring the nearby woods and trails just beyond Summer Street - building forts, hiking, playing games, and nature crafts. Pick up and drop off is at Colonel Town Recreation. Children at LES can be bussed while all others will require drop off by a parent/guardian. Open to children in 4th and 5th grade. Program is free, while a suggested donation of $5.00/week is welcome. Space is limited to 12. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to sign up early.
Research supports that unstructured play has an important role in the healthy physical and social-emotional development of a child. And unstructured play outside is extremely beneficial to our children's mental health. Additionally, studies show that play can lead to a stronger academic performance. Whether it is building a fort or using sticks and leaves to create props in an afternoon of pretend play, our children are working and learning.
